vSphere 7 with Kubernetes Part 3 – Configure Content Library

vSphere 7 with Kubernetes Part 3 – Configure Content Library

In part 1 of this blog series, I covered how to create Storage tag and Policy to be used for the Workload management.

In part 2 of this blog series, I covered how to enable Workload Management on vSphere 7.

In this 3rd part for the blog series, I will configure Content Library that contains the latest distributions of Kubernetes and accompanying OS.

The content library has been around since previous versions of vSphere. And, many of you would have seen or used it for VM templates, IOS images etc.

In vSphere 7, we will use Content Library for the latest distributions of Kubernetes and accompanying OS.

Let us create a Content Library.

Select Content Libraries option from Menu in vCenter UI.

Click on the ‘+ Create’ option to create a new Content Library.

Specify name and location for the content library.

Next, configure the content library. Local libraries can be published externally and optimized for syncing over HTTP.

Subscribed libraries originate from other published libraries.

We will configure a subscribed content library. We will need to provide a subscription URL.

Click Yes to trust the subscription host. The SSL thumbprint of the certificate will be remembered until the library is deleted.

Next, add storage. Select a storage location for the library contents

Review content library settings and finish the Content Library creation.

The new library will look like below.

Once the necessary OVF & OVA Templates are download from subscribed URL as part of Content Library, you will see templates listed in the Content Library.

Proceed to Add Library into the Control Plane cluster.

To add Library, select your Cluster in vCenter UI, go to Configure tab and select General tab from Namespaces.

In the next part for the blog series, I will cover how to configure Image Registry and enable the embedded Harbor Registry.
